Those who cross-dress wear clothes, makeup, and accesories not typically associated with their biological sex. Cross-dressers are often comfortable with their assigned gender and usually do not wish to change it. While cross-dressing is a form of gender expression, it is not indicative of somone's gender identity or sexual orientation.

Transgender on the other hand, is an umbrella term encompassing all those who do not identify with their assigned gender. Not all of those who are transgender undergo a gender transition.
